1, Scope of Application.

 This standard stipulates the classification and marking, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and markings of marine electric welding anchor chains (including ordinary chain links and accessories). This standard applies to the design, manufacture and acceptance of stalled and untied anchor chains used in all types of ships.

2, Terms and Definition.
1) Nominal size: the nominal diameter of commen links.

2) Commen link: the basic unit that makes up the link.

3) Enlarged link: links used to connect with  commen links, end links and D type joining shackle or connect with commen links and swivel.

4) End link: links that attached to the end of links or chain outboard shot, connected with end shackle, D type shackle or swivel shackle.

5) Joining shackle ( D joining shackle or kenter shackle):  D joining shackle or kenter shackle used to connect with each links.

6) End shackle: enlarged shackle used to connect  chain outboard shot with anchor shackle.

7) Swivel: Rotatable parts mounted on anchor links to prevent excessive twisting of the anchor chain.

8) Swivel shackle: A rotating shackle connected to the anchor rod or anchor relief.

9) Chain-shot: The constituent unit of the anchor chain. It is divided into chain outboard shot, intermediate links and end links.

10) Chain outboard shot: An additional short link attached to the anchor relief. It is generally composed of an end shackle，end link, enlarged link, swivel and commen link . or composed of swivel shackle, end shackle,enlarged link and commen link. 

11) Chain end shot: A link that is connected to a discarded chain device. It is generally composed of end link, enlarged link and commen link.

12) Mid chain: links that composed of end link, commen link and joing shackle. the nominal length of each link is 27.5m or 25m.

13) Anchor chain accessory: A general term for the various connectors that connect ordinary chain links and anchors on the anchor chain, which includes enlarged link,end link,kenter shackle,end shackle,joining shackle,swivel and swivel shackle.
